Good Friday strike by Limasa workers called off
The threatened strike by workers at Limasa during Holy Week has been called off.
Talks have been going on all week between the workers of the street cleaning company and the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, and last night they voted unanimously not to strike on Good Friday.
They have agreed that rubbish collection during one of the busiest times of the year will be carried 100 per cent, but they have demanded that there will be no pay cuts and that the workers will maintain their positions.
With thousands of tourists expected to visit Malaga to see the processions, bar and restaurant owners were particularly concerned and a representative said that they would find a way to clean the streets and remove rubbish themselves if the strike had gone ahead.
