Spain beat France in Paris 1 – 0

Spain on track for World Cup

Spain won the match against France last night in Paris 1-0 moving their position to the top of the World Cup qualifying Group 1 with three remaining games to play.

Last night’s win was important for Spain after they drew with Finland last week.

Iniesta, Xavi, Benzema and Ribery missed opportunities in the first part of the game, and then Spain was denied a penalty, causing tension on the pitch.

Xabi Alonso fought hard to bring Spain back into the game although the French defence were strong. Pedro managed to score the goal in the second half after a pass from Nacho Monreal. A second attempt at a goal was unsuccessful.

France tried hard to fight for an equaliser in the closing stages, but then Pogba was sent off for two dangerous challenges leaving Spain to attain the much needed win.
