Pego take advantage of ‘excellent’ Oliva Nova greens on Costa Blanca

PEGO: Society prizewinners at Oliva Nova

PEGO Golf Society noticed a marked improvement in the greens at Oliva Nova on a course they described as in excellent condition.

The 42 players who turned out were able to enjoy beautiful sunny conditions on a mild day for their ‘Strokesford’ competition, where the net Stableford points for the second nine holes were deducted from the net medal score for the first nine holes.

In the handicap Division One Alan Barwick was top with an excellent score of 15 points off handicap 17. In second was Andrew Harrison who finished one point behind on 16 points. He was followed by Ken Millar who continued his good run of form to finish with 17 points and in fourth was Donal Murphy.

In handicap Division Two, John Evans had the lowest score of the day, off a handicap of 23, with a net score of 13 points. In second was Peter Brown who on countback came in with 18 points to pip Peter Cornes. Roger Brown took fourth place with a creditable 20 points.

There were four players who recorded twos at the par threes this week, so congratulations to Ron Webb, Donal Murphy, Dave Lett and Andrew Harrison.

Nearest the Pin at Hole No 3 was Brendan Young and nearest the Pin at Hole No 16 was Donal Murphy.

In the club match play competition, first round, Malcolm Wise defeated Terry Langley.
