Trophies and medals for Torrevieja swimmers.

WHAT a weekend for Club Natacion Torrevieja.

On Saturday the club won three trophies and medals in the girls’ relay at the 9th Club Natacion Raspeig Trophy Competition.

Then in the afternoon the club gained four medals in the Masters 4th Councillor Anton Ramon Garcia  Memorial Competition, also hosted at the municipal pool, San Vincente, Alicante.

The day’s events got off to a flying start when Marta Garcia won a trophy for third place in the 50m freestyle event for those born in 2006.

This was followed by her sister Paula Garcia just missing a trophy with fourth place in her 100m medley (2002 year).

Another close fourth place was Samira Burbano in the 2003 years 100m medley with team mate Victoria Pigneur in fifth place.

Next in the older age group Zoe Connolly got a trophy for third in her 100m medley (2001 yrs) and Hakeem Teland first place and trophy in his 50m freestyle event (1998 yrs and older).

To round off the morning the club entered both the boys 4 x 50m freestyle  and girls 4 x 50m freestyle relay events.

The girls’ team of Amy Connolly, Samira Burbano, Paula Garcia and Zoe Connolly took third place.

In the afternoon Beth Altabas started with a gold medal in the 100m backstroke (65+) and later a second gold in her 100m medley.

Next to race for Torreveija, Adam Stewart swam in the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke events (25yrs+).

Adam worked really hard and beat his recent personal best in his freestyle by nearly two seconds to earn fourth place in both events.

Vicki Connolly then finished the day with two gold medals in her two events 50m and 100m (45+) freestyle races.
