A Spanish bed manufacturer has come up with the solution for those who are worried about the safety of their money in a bank.
The Caja Mi Colchon or ‘My mattress safe’ is a mattress designed and created with a small armoured safe with a keypad combination lock hidden inside it.
The mattress safe was created by Paco Santos, who himself was laid off from one of Spain’s biggest mattress manufacturers three years ago. He has created his own company, using his experience in manufacturing mattresses called Descanso Santos Suenos or DeSS, in Salamanca. He said that he had seen that with the big economic problems in Spain people have lost confidence in banks, so he came up with the idea that people would like to sleep on their money to know where it was at all times.
Videos of the mattress are now being posted on YouTube by Paco’s son who works in public relations and sales are soaring. The beds are available for €875 and went on sale three weeks ago.
One video ends with the slogan, ‘tu dinero muy cerca de ti — y muy lejos de los bancos,’ which translates as ‘your money very close to you — and very far from the banks.’
