THE Guardia Civil is currently assessing the environment around 4,733 schools throughout the region.
Their most recent activity has prevented a robbery and dismantled two drug outlets in the vicinity of schools in Cuevas del Almanzora and Roquetas de Mar, resulting in the arrests of three people.
The Master Plan for Coexistence and Safety Improvements in Schools, was instigated in 2007 by the Secretary of State for Security, and takes the form of lectures involving parents, students, and their teachers.
They cover bullying, substance abuse and gang culture, as well as gender violence, and activities associated with the internet. These workshops are supported with displays, exhibitions, media material, and even school visits to local Guardia Civil stations.
