Cheers! Torres wins new most admired wine title

TORRES  – the nation’s largest winery – is the toast of Spanish wine producers. For Bodegas Torres has been ranked second among the World’s Most Admired Wine Brands, bettered only by Chilean/Argentinian brand Concha y Toro.

This is the third consecutive year that Torres has been among the world’s most admired wine brands drawn up by Drinks International, a London-based magazine.

Several others wines produced in Spain, including Vega Sicilia, Felix Solis, Marques de Riscal, Campo Viejo, Faustino and Marques de Caceres, are listed among the top 50 admired brands.

Miguel Torres – a fourth generation of the founders – now heads Bodega Torres as company president. Founded in 1870, Bodegas Torres in Pacs, near Vilafranca del Penades in Cataluña, exports to 140 countries worldwide and among its best known products are Viña Sol, Sangre de Toro, De Casta, Coronas and Viña Esmeralda, as well as brandies including Torres 5 and Torres 10.

Many of their wines are priced well under  €14 a bottle, while their brandy Torres 5 brandy is priced  €8-€12, and their Torres 20 costs €40.
