Paramedics were quickly on the scene.
A BOY, aged 13, has been seriously injured whilst fishing off the jetty at Las Olas. Emergency services were alerted when the teenager, who was angling from breakwater rocks, slipped and impaled himself on a large hook.
He was found lying between the rocks that form part of Almeria’s fishing harbour, having tripped and skewered himself in the calf of his right leg.
Paramedics decided not to remove the hook at the scene, instead rushing him to nearby Torrecardenas Hospital where doctors removed the double pronged hook traditionally used to catch octopus.
