Brave Boxers rewarded

BOXERS: members were rewarded with sunshine.

SPRING weather may have put off some, but members of Boxers who braved the rain which accompanied the coach to Roquetas were rewarded with some great golf.

Apart from a couple of light showers, members were met with warm sunshine for the whole day and the recent rain had watered the course into perfection.

The day was both a stand-alone competition and the final round of this season’s Captain’s Eclectic. Last year’s captain, Tony Harwin, turned in a blistering round, giving lessons on how to manage all aspects of the game; but members will have to wait until the Captain’s Day presentations to find out if his round was strong enough to nick the three round eclectic trophy from leading contenders Mark Newell and Adrian Ball, who both had successful days.

In Division one Tony Harwin won followed by Mark Newell and Paul Holley.

Division two was taken by Richard Measures followed by Steve Priestley and Adrian Ball.

Nearest the pins were Mike Doyle and Dave France and Adrian Ball and Terry Harris scored twos.

May is a busy month for the Society with the ever-popular ‘Trouble & Strife’ pairs comp on Sunday, the Alan Hayes trophy at Alboran on May 14  (open to all) and a regular meeting at Desert Springs on May 29. The final round of the ‘Home Internationals’ are on May 22.

Guests and new members are always welcome and for more information on any Society activities, and to see a full calendar, please visit the Boxers website at http://www.boxersgs.webs.com/  or call Captain Derek Leonard on 950 936162 or 690 352860.
