A READER has contacted the Mallorca office of the Euro Weekly News to warn other people about a possible computer scam. Mrs P. R. from near Inca had been experiencing problems with her computer. She then received a telephone call by a ‘foreign’ sounding man saying he represented Microsoft and wanted to help her.
The woman was surprised at first as she had not reported the problem to anybody. The man told her to switch on her computer and they would go through the computer together. This raised the lady’s suspicions so she questioned him as to where he was calling from, to which he replied Manchester (U.K.). But when she asked where in Manchester he hung up.
