ELFS: One of the pieces has been stolen.
THIEVES have struck on an ‘art route’ project in rural Cas Perets de ses Salines. They have made off with one of six pieces that together made up a project by artist Aina Maria Lliteras.
Now the town hall, artists involved in the project and the local residents’ association have called on the thief to return the work. In a statement they expressed their sadness at “this act of vandalism which could put in danger this type of project.”
Called Art i Nature the route started on April 28 and runs until June 29. It contained sculptures called Elfs featuring three sculptures with six pieces. Each measured one metre 65 centimetres high and two-and-a-half metres wide. But now one of the pieces has been stolen.
The value of the sculpture is unknown but just the materials cost more than €7,000. Aina Maria Lliteras is particularly upset by this incident as she agreed to exhibit these pieces to help the new and innovative project that combines art and nature.
Police, who are questioning local people, say they have some leads. They are appealing to any person with information to contact them in ses Salines
