Rio Seco in Nerja.
NERJA’S councillor for Infrastructure, Antonio Garcia, has announced that the council is going to build three new crossings on the Rio Seco in Nerja.
The river runs down the valley at the western end of Nerja, and comes out on El Playazo next to the Marinas de Nerja hotel. The river often flows strongly in the winter months, making crossing the river difficult for residents and farmers in the area.
The contract for the work has been given to Tragsa with a budget of €80,000 which will also include improvement works on the country roads around the Rio de la Miel to the east.
Work will begin shortly and is part of the programme Encamina 2 by the Agriculture department. García says that the improvement work has been long-awaited by the council and the local residents and emphasised its importance to both the agricultural and tourism sectors.
