Alf gets the chop in Almeria

THE axe will swing heavily on Alf Walker’s handicap after he ran away with the third division, overall winner and the Alan Hay Trophy, scoring 41 points at Alboran.

It was the second and third divisions from Boxers which seemed to hold their nerve best when a thunderstorm spat light rain during the middle of the round as it rolled in from the sea; but a light breeze and the returning sunshine soon made for perfect conditions on a finely presented course.

In divsion one first was Dave Lees (33) second Malcom Nicholls (32) and third Tony Redston (32).

In division two Tom Harris (37) came top followed by Adrian (Alan) Ball (36)

Division three was won by Alf Walker (41) followed by Pam Partridge (33).

Richard Measures complaint at his lack of press coverage on previous outings would have been better served had he not been pipped to the NTP on the 17th by Adrian (Andrew) Thomson, who was in good company with Malcolm Nicholls on the 12th and Mark (Henry)  Newell in 2 on the 5th.

Boxers calendar for May continues with a social Bowling Supper tomorrow (Friday) and a society meeting at Desert Springs on the 29th.

Visitors and guests are always welcome. More information: http://www.boxersgs.webs.com/.
