BENISSA: May was good for Costa Blanca tourism.
LOYAL British tourists, plus new airline routes produced the best May in 10 years. Alicante province hotels averaged 70 per cent occupancy throughout the month, rising to 100 per cent in Benidorm.
The outlook for June is equally promising, said Alicante hoteliers, who also noticed a slight increase in national tourism.
May’s encouraging figures and promising reservations for June were principally due to weekends and “puente” mini-breaks as well as their efforts to peg prices, they pointed out.
They are also optimistic regarding prospects for the high season, although the months of July and August still have to be covered, the hoteliers admitted.
