Chain protestor in daughter plea in Valencia

A WOMAN has chained herself to the Palau de la Generalitat regional government buildings in Valencia demanding the exhumation of remains she was told was her daughter.

The women gave birth in a Valencia hospital in 1982 and was told her baby had died within hours of being born. Now, she is one of the many women and families across Valencia and Alicante, who claim to have had their babies ‘stolen’ and put up for illegal adoption during the 1960’s and 1980’s. The mother is a member of the SOS Stolen Babies group which has since formed and said in the case of her daughter there were “many irregularities.”

They led her to think the baby did not die. She said she will not move from the site until she has answers. “I am fighting for my daughter, which is what gives me more strength to continue. Whilst I do not know if she’s alive or buried in the mass grave I will not move from here.”
