CALA NOVA Cancer Care Charity Shop presented Jaime Coll, President of the ASPANOB (Balearic Association of Parents of Children with Cancer) a cheque for €2,500.
The money was raised by participants and sponsors of the Walk for Life, an event which took place on May 18, which was organised by popular nurse and midwife, Linda Ledwidge and assisted by Angela McGrath of the charity shop.
Resident supporters joined in on a 5km walk in support of the group helping to raise €1000 for children suffering from cancer.
Organisers would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made this possible, especially the British International School in Magaluf. Nearly half the money is destined to Colon Cancer Screening programme in a bid to convince Balearic Health Services to offer such tests to all people between 50 and 69, as is the case with breast cancer tests.
The first Colon screening will take place in Muro shortly. The AECC (Spanish Association against Cancer) have collected thousands of signatures in support of the screening.
