Teenage boy arrested after mattress blaze spreads to pine woods

NATIONAL POLICE arrested a teenage boy for allegedly starting a fire which destroyed two hectares of pines and bushes in Altos de Estepona.

Police say he was with a group of friends and set fire to a mattress. The group was unable to control the flames which set fire to dry grasses in the area and spread.

Two helicopters, three fire engines and seven firemen brought the fire under control. Reports from witnesses led to the teenager’s detention.
