Train tragedy
French rail company SNCF has identified the cause of Friday´s accident as “technical fault” caused by a piece of metal that was missing at a crucial junction on the track just south of Paris.
The driver has been commended for preventing any further casualties by sounding the alarm that stopped all of the surrounding traffic on the train lines in the area.
SNFC have apologised to the families of the six dead and several injured and accept full responsibility for what happened. An inspection of all the SNFC railway lines is to take place to ensure this does not happen again.
