Royal baby arrives home and Great-Grandmother comes to visit

The proud great-grandmother

Having spent his first night at home with his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Queen has already paid a visit to her new great-grandson.

The new family left St Mary’s Hospital in west London where the Duke stated that the couple have yet to name the third in line to the throne.

In front of the hospital, the couple described becoming parents as “very emotional”.

Prince William described the child as a “big boy” and that they were “working on a name…as soon as we can”.

The Queen was not the first to visit the newborn. The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, and Catherine’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton had already paid visits to the hospital before the young couple showed their child to the world.

Prince Charles said the baby was “marvellous” while Mrs Middleton said he was “absolutely beautiful”.

The Queen visited without her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, as he continues to recover from abdominal surgery.

She stayed for half an hour so that the new family could have private time together.
