Bull running tragedy

A 16-year-old boy has died at the running-of-the-bulls festival which celebrates the patron saint of a Spanish town, police have stated.

The bull caught the youngster in the back as he took part in the running which marks the Apostle James feast at Isso just under 322 kilometres southeast of Madrid.

Doctors performed two operations, but they failed to repair the massive injuries that he had suffered and he died just hours later.

In the same festival, a 60 year-old man was gored in one of his legs.

Fiestas of this nature are common in the whole of Spain. There are always health and safety issues surrounding the festivals.

Anyone can participate whether they are drunk or unfit. The police spokesman who has revealed the news has done so on the condition of anonymity as he is not allowed to be cited by name.
