Brazilian Chelsea player David Luiz
Chelsea is now starting to feel the heat of the transfer market. They have received a bid from Barcelona for their Brazilian defender David Luiz.
The 26-year-old who joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2011 for just under €24.5 million has been a constant target for the Spanish champions. Chelsea has reportedly insisted that he is not for sale throughout. The exchange does not involve any players, just cash.
With veteran Carles Puyol suffering with knee problems last season, and having undergone surgery in March, new Coach Gerardo Martino may have to make a centre-back his priority. Fellow defenders Gerard Pique, Adriano Correia and Javier Mascherano were also injured during the season.
PSG centre-back had been linked with the Catalan giants but he put those rumours to rest by signing a new contract with the French champions last month.
