In the opening weekend of La Liga both Barcelona and Real Madrid begin the new Spanish season with home wins.
Barcelona saw a 7-0 win against Levante yesterday (Sunday August 18) with the first goal coming from Alexis Sanchez only 3 minutes into the game.
Lionel Messi and Pedro each scored two goals during the match, with goals also from Dani Alves and Xavier Hernández Creus otherwise known as Xavi to make it an easy win for the defending champions.
On the other hand rivals Real Madrid had to work hard at it before edging out a 2-1 win from Real Betis.
Betis scored the first goal which came from Jorge Molina in the first 15 minutes of the match challenging last years’ runners up in the first half.
Betis, who finished seventh in La Liga last season, created numerous goalscoring chances in an impressive display during the first-half at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid then levelled the playing field with a goal 26 minutres in from Karim Benzena.
Spain international Isco, playing after a €27 million signing from Malaga, finished the game with a memorable debut performance scoring with a powerful 86th-minute header.
