Prime Minister David Cameron has blamed the Assad regime for suspected chemical attacks on civilians in Syria and has said “the world should not stand idly by.”
Military forces in the United Kingdom and the US are now said to be preparing for possible military intervention in response to the chemical attacks which are believed to have killed hundreds in Syria’s capital city of Damascus.
Parliament has been recalled and Mr Cameron has said that this decision will be taken to the vote in the houses of parliament and stresses that any intervention has to be legal and proportionate. He has also stated that intervention from the west would not be about involving themselves in the Syrian conflict itself, but preventing the use of chemical weapons by any regime.
