A MAN, 47, was arrested for trying to sell a forged painting, supposedly by an artist from Mallorca, online.
The artist herself went to the Guardia Civil in Sineu to report that a painting was on sale on a website selling second-hand goods and the seller attributed it to her, although she had not painted it.
She said that her works are only sold in exhibitions in specialised art galleries and that they fetch considerably more than the seller was asking.
Guardia Civil arranged a meeting with the seller, a man from the Dominican Republic, who was identified and arrested in Illetes.
