TLC needed for two ‘docile, affectionate’ victims

A HORSE and donkey were recently abandoned on the Calpe to Moraira road.

They were unloaded from a white off-road vehicle towing a horsebox trailer at around 8.30pm.

The driver left quickly after tethering the animals to a lamppost, said a resident who witnessed the entire episode.

They were in such a pitiful state that she immediately rang the Policia Local, who contacted the Calpe-Benissa Animal Protection Society.

They are now at a Calpe riding centre but are in need of large quantities of TLC.

Both were unshod and starving but although covered in cuts and other injuries they are docile and affectionate.

A local vet has kindly volunteered his services without charge, as has a local blacksmith.

Eleonor Gonzalez, president of the animal protection society, donated €100 for their initial upkeep and a Calpe resident has given a further €50.

However, ongoing help will be needed to feed and care for the animals until new homes can be found for them.

Readers who would like to help are asked to contact Patricia on 676 008 213.
