ONCE again the La Cala de Mijas Lions are spending their charity donations to help those in need.
Lions International has two main interests – one is to help those with impaired sight with a campaign called Sight First. This takes their teams all over the world to the most far-flung areas offering eye-care – taking away cataracts for example in jungle situations! Their second interest is in Diabetes – the silent killer. So it is appropriate that this month Patricia Maxwell, President of the Lions, handed a cheque for €1,000 to Jack Nausbaum to help him to run his tournaments where he is dedicated to encourage those with impaired sight, the physically disabled and the mentally handicapped to enjoy a game of golf at the Parador del Golf, Malaga. As November is the month when we have a Diabetes Awareness Campaign Jack has agreed to let our Diabetic Support Group have a stand where they can chat to any diabetics who wish to come along around 1pm on November 9.
