Three trophies for Torrevieja Girls

This Saturday was the annual  “XIV Swimming Trophy, Diputacion Base, Alicante”. Three hundred and forty one swimmers aged between 8 and 14 yrs from 17 of the regions clubs competed in a complete range of strokes at distances of 50 m and 100 m. Club Natacion Torrevieja had 12 swimmers competing in this event with some excellent results. In the girls Alevin (11/12yrs )100m Backstroke event Paula Garcia had an outstanding swim winning 3rd place and a new regional qualifying time knocking over 5 seconds of her previous best. In the older age group for the girls Infantil (13/14 yrs) Piroska Rideg followed Paula’s example winning 2nd place and another regional qualifying time. Piroska then continued her winning streak with 3rd place in her other race the 100m Freestyle event. This also qualifies her for regional competitions in this event. Others swimmers in the club had very good races with many new best times being gained. 

 

Later in the day the Masters of the club travelled to Elda for their 1st Timed Control of the new season. New master Paul Matthews had two excellent swims in his 50m Butterfly and 100m Medley events and Beth Altabas good swims in her 200m Medley and 400m Freestyle events. Gillian Mc Niece had a difficult swim in her 100m Backstroke feeling not well and forced to retire from her 100m Freestyle event.
