LOVE BIRDS: Pi and one of his girlfriends.
PI, the male newcomer tapir which arrived five months ago at Bioparc has adapted perfectly to his new home, says the zoo.
Now his keepers are hoping he may get romantic with some of the females of his species also kept at the Fuengirola zoo.
Tapirs are an exotic vegetarian mammal species in risk of extinction. Pi, a male Malaysian tapir, came to Bioparc from Nuremberg’s Zoo in Germany.
Pi has made two female friends, Esperanza and Dewi. Zoo bosses hope that he will father baby tapirs within the next 13 months.
