SCIENTISTS have discovered that mosquitoes detect even the faintest of human body odours when searching for potential victims to bite; which could explain why some people get bitten more than others.
Female mosquitoes use specific sensors to detect carbon dioxide being exhaled from humans and animals and now researchers from the University of California Riverside in the USA say they also use these same sensors to detect body odours, especially the smell of feet. Researchers say they will use the results to develop more effective mosquito repellent.
