PALMA BEACH: El Juanito's most recent crime spree
A YOUTH, 14, with more than 2,500 thefts to his name, has been sent down by a judge.
The boy, known to National Police as ‘El Juanito’, appeared before a minors’ judge in Palma who decided to send him to the Es Pinaret internment centre for juvenile delinquents.
He will live there, although he will take part in work, leisure and educational activities outside the centre.
Police say that he made an average of €500 per day stealing from shops, sports centres, banks, hotels, shopping centres and other premises, with which he supported part of his family. He once stole almost €12,000 from a tourist attraction in Palma, on another occasion he took almost €1,000 worth of perfume from a shopping centre and several years ago, stole a yacht which he crashed and had to be rescued from.
He was recently caught stealing from hotels in Palma Beach, and now he is 14, he can be charged.
