JOSEF LAMMERZ: Honorary citizen of Teulada.
TEULADA resident Josef Lammerz died on January 8, aged 83.
Born in Bonn (Germany) in 1939, Lammerz came to Teulada in1989. In 2000, in recognition of his artistic and civic contributions to the local community, he was named Hijo Adoptivo – honorary citizen – of Teulada.
He was a member of the Coral Teuladina and well-known for muciscal compositions that included a Te Deum, Cantata a Xativa and Misa Romantica.
In September last year the Club Costa Blanca Aleman, the Coral Teuladina, town hall, the Teulada-Moraira auditorium, friends and neighbours paid tribute to Josef Lammerz with a recital attended by more than 400 people.
Expressing his condolences to Lammerz’s family, Teulada mayor Antoni Joan Bertomeu emphasied his approachability, generosity and commitment to the town.
“Music was always his calling-card. His enthusiasm and desire for musical perfection and his dedication rewarded him with close friendships during the years he spent here,” Bertomeu said.
Lammerz’s last performed in public at the traditional Christmas Concert in Teulada church. As always he accompanied the Coral Teuladina and the children’s choir, receiving a warm ovation from performers and the public.
