ROSDEEP KULAR: In court for son's death
ROSDEEP KULAR is due to appear at the Edinburgh Sherriff Court today (Monday) in connection with the death of her son, Mikaeel.
Mikaeel’s body was found on Friday night, and his mother formally charged on Saturday. The boy had been reported as missing from his home since Thursday, prompting a major search of the area by police, rescue teams and neighbours. Police found his body about 20 miles from his home in woodland near Dunvegan Avenue in Kirkcaldy, Fife.
Police and forensic teams have been searching the woods and a house in the area, which belongs to a family member. Rosdeep Kular and her five children had previously lived at the Dunvegan Avenue address.
On Saturday evening hundreds of people gathered in Edinburgh at St Andrews Church in Muirhouse for a memorial service on behalf of Mikaeel Kular; candles were given out at the entrance prior to the service. Only people from the local community were permitted to attend.
Throughout the weekend mourners visited his home in Edinburgh and the house in Kirkcaldy, lighting candles and leaving flowers and cuddly toys.
Children at the primary school which Mikaeel had attended have been offered support from teachers and psychological teams.
Police have since made several arrests regarding suspected offensive tweets in relation to the disappearance.
