Francisco Torrecillas Sanchez Sports Centre, Albox
THE head of the Junta de Andalucia’s sports department, Councillor Luciano Alonso, has opened a new sports centre in Albox.
The new centre is named after Francisco Torrecillas Sanchez the director of the Martin Garcia Ramos Institute where the centre is located and following a citizens petition.
The new sports pavilion has been built on the old outdoor courts of the school. It has an area of almost 1,500 square metres and consists of a sports court suitable for a whole range of sports including handball, basketball and volleyball.
On the ground floor there is an entrance hall, changing rooms, first aid room, toilets and a store.
Located upstairs, with separate access, is a viewing gallery with capacity for 240 spectators. The opening was attended by the school’s teachers and family members of Francisco. The concillor, after unveiling the plaque, said that “this centre has a dual purpose to improve and encourage physical exercise among the schoolchildren and also promote accessibility to sport for all the citizens of Albox.”
