TRADE VISIT: Eduardo Dolón presents Sweden's Trade Minister with a salt ship in honour of her visit.
SWEDEN’S Trade Minister Ewa Björling was in Torrevieja to meet with Mayor Eduardo Dolon.
The Minister was accompanied by representatives of the Swedish Embassy in Spain and the Hispanic-Swedish Chamber of Commerce. She was in Spain and decided to visit Torrevieja to meet with friends and to maintain contacts with Swedish entrepreneurs in the city and to promote trade and business relations between Spain and Sweden saying Torrevieja was the most popular tourist destination for Swedes. There are more than 3,000 Swedes registered on the padron in Torrevieja.
The Mayor welcomed the Minister to the city, meeting at the Hotel Masa International, close to the garden dedicated to Nils Gäbel which opened in 2003. Gäbel and his family are believed to be the first Swedish tourists who settled in Torrevieja, arriving in 1963.
