New solution for old problem in Estepona

PROCESSIONARY CATERPILLARS: Do not touch! Keep children and animals away.

PINE trees in Estepona will be treated with a pioneering method to save them from processionary caterpillars.

The caterpillars normally start arriving in March, although this year it has been earlier, and cause itching and other problems amongst local residents.

Insecticide will be injected into tree trunks causing an effect which will last for the six-month life spain of the caterpillar. It will extend throughout the tree so that they will die when they ingest the leaves.

The advantage of not spraying the trees with other products is that no chemical substances will remain in the air which can be breathed in by local residents.
