Alicante airport expects a record 10 million passengers this year, thanks to increased international flights
The high season begins on March 30 and continues until October 28, said the airport’s director Santiago Martinez-Cava.
During this time airlines will offer 8.3 million seats on 47,132 flights – 3 per cent more than in 2013.
Eighty per cent of the passengers will be foreign tourists and travellers, Martinez-Cava said.
There is also set to be an increase in domestic flights, with an estimated 1.1 million passengers.
There will be 15 new routes, including two first-time destinations: Santander and Rome.
