Benalmadena, Malaga, Spain.
A MAN who locked his partner’s four-year-old daughter in the boot of a car has been sent to prison. The child was put in the boot of the Seat Cordoba twice within the course of one day where she was subjected to high temperatures.
The incident took place in Benalmadena (pictured) in April 2012, the man being 27 years old at the time. The accused claimed he planned to go up to his flat without the child, after which he parked the vehicle and locked the four-year-old in the boot.
The size of the boot was said to have been only 90 centimetres long by 44 wide and 65 high. Weather records indicate that on the day it happened (April 24, 2012) temperatures reached up to 26 degrees, putting the child’s health in significant danger.
Later the same day, at around midnight, various Benalmadena Local Police agents rescued the little girl who again found herself in the vehicle’s boot, where she had been for about half an hour.
According to the Malaga provincial court, the child was in the man’s custody at the time. He received a one-year prison sentence for his actions, which were considered ‘temporary abandonment of a minor’.
