Federer beats Kevin Anderson at Indian Wells

Federer beat Kevin Anderson

Federer, looking for his fifth title in the Californian desert, beat South African Kevin Anderson by 7-5 and 6-1 in only 69 minutes.

 

Federer dominated Anderson’s serve leaving him at a disadvantage and unable to recover. The last time the two met was in the Paris Open in 2013; Federer won.

Swiss Federer, seeded 7, and Ukranian Dolgopolov, seeded 28, both won their respective games putting them through to face each other in the semi-finals of the first Masters 1000 of the season.

Dolgopolov beat Milos Raonic by 6-3 and 6-4 to get through.

In the women’s tournament Li Na of China has gone through to the semi-finals to face Flavia Pennetta of Italy.

Li Na beat Dominika Cibulkova by 6-3, 4-6 and 6-3 in two hours and 36 minutes. Flavia Pennetta, the first Italian woman to get to semi-finals at Indian Wells, beat Sloane Stephens by 6-4, 5-7 and 6-4.
