Long Distance Train Travel Overtakes Air Travel for the First Time
Provisional data from the National Institute of Statistics has revealed that long distance train passengers have grown by 22% while travellers who opt for the plane have fallen by over 7%.
Long distance trains, including the high speed AVE, have beaten out national air travel for the first time.
In January there were a total of 1,914 million people taking long distance trains in Spain while the total for air travel passengers was 1,865.
Rising fuel prices are being blamed for this change in the habits of national travellers.
