Succulent steaks, juicy burgers, freshest ingredients and a keen eye for quality: This is Longhorn del Sol, the best place in Benalmadena for excellent steaks and burgers.

Owner Klaus has been on the Costa del Sol for 12 years.

After much experience with restaurants in Dusseldorf, Cologne and Munich, he wanted “a smaller place I could run all by myself.”

Longhorn is just that, a comfortable, rustic and cosy restaurant perfectly located in the heart of Benalmadena pueblo, made extra convenient with free public parking just around the corner.

Klaus chose this location for Longhorn because “it’s original, it’s a very nice pueblo with good people. And we get interesting tourists up here, different from those who stick to the costa.”

The interior is a lovely rustic style, a combination of warm colors, wooden and tile accents and attractive dinnerware providing a truly pleasant experience.

Longhorn chooses the best meats, importing directly from Galicia and San Sebastian.

“We avoid the cheap distributors and we don’t cut costs,” Klaus said. “Our goal is to offer the highest possible quality at reasonable prices.”

Burgers are minced by hand, never frozen, with 100 per cent pure meat, no additives.

All Longhorn’s sauces are made fresh from scratch based on Klaus’ own recipes.

Attention to detail is key, down to specifics like fresh goat cheese for the salmon tartare (“The ‘fresh’ goat cheese in the packages isn’t really fresh but ours truly is, even though we have to hunt for it!” Klaus emphasised), and desserts and cakes are produced in-house as well.

The wine list is impressive, with always a good quality house wine in cava, white, rose and red for under €10/bottle; there is a nice selection of local and imported beers as well.

Longhorn’s lunch special Tuesday to Saturday includes entree, drink and dessert/coffee for only €12!

The Sunday and Monday dinner special is a salad, baked potato and a mixed selection of meat, sausages, and burgers that can be repeated as often as you like, for just €16.50.

Open Mon 6:30-11:00pm, Tues-Sat 12:30-4:00pm and 6:30-11:00pm, and Sun 1:00-5:00pm.
