The young man who threw a banana at Barcelona player Dani Alves has been freed pending a court appearance.
The young man, 26, was detained by the national police and after being interviewed he was allowed to go pending a court appearance.
He stands accused of provoking discrimination, hatred and/or violence against a person or persons for racial motives.
Villarreal football club identified him, withdrew his membership and gave him a lifelong ban from the grounds.
A judge will decide whether to prosecute the case in court or just apply a fine.
