The monuments are dedicated to victims of the Las Lagunas attack.
Mijas Councillor for Urban Development, Manuel Navarro, oversaw the placement of the two monuments on the roundabout dedicated to the victims of terrorism in Las Lagunas.
The monuments are two steel and bronze sculptures by Jose Antonio Barrios Ibañez, dedicated to Peace and Union, which are six and 15 metres tall respectively.
The sculptor was present and said that it had taken him two months to complete them.
Both have been paid for by the Western Costa del Sol Community of Municipalities, costing €62,000.
The councillor said that they were important to make it clear that the people of Mijas are in favour of democracy, civic behaviour and the support all those who have fought to keep democracy alive.
Work on the roundabout is finished apart from two fountains and garden areas.
