The 27-year-old Andy Murray took the tennis world by surprise last week, after appointing Amelie Mauresmo as his new coach.
The former Australian Open and Wimbledon champion, Mauresmo coached fellow Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli to her first Wimbledon victory last summer, and the 29-year-old Bartoli believes that her former coach is the most suitable for the British No.1.
Bartoli revealed that the two times Grand Slam champion will help Murray during times of stress and make the player feel very comfortable mentally, adding: “Amelie is someone who is able to take all the stress away and make you feel extremely comfortable. She prepares you for the worst and gives you some advice in order to deal with that, so when you start to face that situation you are ready. I think they will joke around a lot.”
The five times Wimbledon champion and World No. 1, Serena Williams, has also praised Andy Murray’s decision to work with Amelie Mauresmo, as she prepares for next week’s Wimbledon.
This year’s Wimbledon will run from June 23 to July 6, with Andy Murray as the defending champion in the men’s singles.
