Ice cool invention a tasty treat

Thirty seven-year-old Spanish physicist Manuel Linares from Barcelona has invented a new and unique magical ice cream that changes colour within 10 – 15 seconds of licking it.

Manuel Linares, also a professional chef, announced his new invention dubbed ‘Xamaleon’ explaining that only natural ingredients are used in his recipe. The ice cream before being served is a light blue colour, whilst being served the server adds a secret recipe spray named by Mr Linares as ‘love elixir’ to it.

Mr Linares explains that when customers lick the ice cream it changes colour within 10 – 15 seconds to a dark shade of pink, as the customer continues to enjoy the treat and the ice cream melts, it changes to lighter shades of pink.

Mr Linares gained his inspiration from British ice cream genius Charlie Francis who is the creator of a fluorescent ice. Mr Linares is currently working on two other new ice creams, one to hopefully react to ultraviolet lighting whilst the other is expected to turn from white to pink whilst being eaten.

The ice cream is currently available only in the chef’s ice cream shop in the town of Calella de Mar, in the eastern province of Barcelona.

With his new colour changing ice cream ready to be sold, Mr Linares is now hoping to find buyers to sell the ice cream abroad.
