Fun and adventure with El Portet

Situated in the largely undiscovered paradise of L’Olla, Altea, the sports equipment hire centre is nestled in the cove by the small marina with waves gently lapping on the rocky shoreline. It is the perfect place for people to launch into the water on either a kayak, windsurf or paddle board and enjoy the water and the stunning scenery of the little haven.

The neighbouring chirin-guito then offers a well deserved refreshing drink or two after your water sports adventure.

El Portet Sports has this year been taken over by author and ghost writer Ken Scott. His French friend ran the centre last summer but was given the chance to run a bigger operation in Montenegro, so he sold El Portet Sports. Ken jumped at the chance to take over and develop the business. As well as equipment hire and catamaran sailing, he also has boats available to hire which do not require a licence to drive being under 4m. He offers sailing and windsurfing lessons with fully qualified instructors. One off, or a tailor made course for adults and children can be arranged to suit. He also plans to make the most of the climate and location and open El Portet Sports all year round: “We will have a windsurfing and kitesurfing school and I have a guy who wants to do a rowing club in the winter.”

However, for those who know Ken, this new venture is not the end of his writing, far from it, his seafront beach hut is equipped with his laptop and whilst he has guests on boats or having instruction, he will be found typing away and what better location could he have for his office.

El Portet Sports is open daily during the summer from 10am-10pm and can be found on Facebook.

If you have never visited before, L’Olla is hosting its famous annual fireworks display on August 9 from L’Olla Isla and El Portet Sports will have the perfect view to watch the festivities.
