‘Lights Out’ – Never Forgotten

Cordon Press

August 4th 2014 marks 100 years since the outbreak of World War I.

A conflict seeing in excess of 70 million military troops mobilised across the globe and deployed throughout the 1566-day war.

On this day, 100 years since Great Britain entered one of the most expensive wars, Euro Weekly News remember and gives praise to the 9 million brave fallen troops, veterans and their families.

UK based charity ´The British Legion´ mark the occasion with its ´LIGHTS OUT` campaign. ‘Lights Out’ is an invitation to everyone across the UK to participate in a shared moment of reflection by turning off their lights from 10pm to 11pm (GMT) today, leaving on just one single candle or light so as to mark the 100th anniversary of when Great Britain entered the First World War.

Remembering the fallen and all who fought to protect nations so as to allow us to continue living in an independent free world, Euro Weekly News supports, encourages and participates the ´Lights Out´ remembrance, encouraging all of our readers to switch off all lights and light up either a single candle or have only one light on this evening between 11pm and midnight (local time), showing our support, remembrance and thanksgiving to our Armed Services personnel.

Join EWN in this centenary anniversary, show your support and share with us your ‘lights out` photos and comments on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.
