Record-breaking Tortilla

La Sexta

A Spanish cook in the Basque Country will become a world record holder by making the biggest tortilla ever. It stands at an impressive five metres wide and was consumed by 9,000 people after being confirmed.

The Guinness World Record book has a new entry after Senén González led the project. He was voted as the best tortilla chef in 2010. Needing 840kg of eggs and 1,600 kg of potatoes and 150 litres of olive oil, a massive pan was made to accommodate the incredible size of the phenomenon. Four hours of preparation but it was definitely worth it as the 9,000 descended to Plaza de La Virgen to commemorate the feat.

All money raised was given to the city´s food bank whilst the record should be official within the next few months assuming another attempt is not made in the meantime.
