La Vinya del Vuit – ‘The Vineyard of Eight’
Since the birth of this wine back in 2001, the identity of this product is being renewed on an annual basis to build a particular and diverse collection, apparently contradictory, that depicts the themes the owners care about and keeps a logic as a whole.
Only 2,500 bottles are being produced every vintage. The main goal is to set this product as a singular one and to attract a high degree of attention. Despite it being a very old vineyard and the vinification methods artisanal, the people behind it are young and brave.
La Vinya del Viut is created by eight friends: Sara Perez, Rene Barbier, Ester Nin, Julian Baste, Philippe Thevenon, Nuria Perez, Iban Foix and Montse Mateos.
Sierra Cantabria
Colección Privada
‘The New Classic of Rioja’
This exceptional wine is included in a special collection produced by the Eguren family at their newly constructed winery, Viñedos Sierra Cantabria, to reflect new classics.
It is made from 100 per cent well-ripened Tempranillo grapes, grown on 10 hectares located near the Ebro River, Los Terreros and Jarate, in the district of San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
Organically fertilised, the vines are over 50 years old and planted in loamy or sandy-loam soils which provide good drainage.
Careful hand-picking at harvest and a further selection at the winery ensure that the fruit is in a perfect state of health and ripeness – seemingly essential criteria for all wines associated with the famous Eguren name.
Traditional de-stemming is followed by maceration on skins for 21 days with daily pumping-over and then malolactic fermentation in barrels.
Colecció Privada is aged for 18 months in new oak barrels (50 per cent French and 50 per cent American).
