OFFICERS from the Guardia Civil have arrested a 54-year-old Spanish woman as part of ‘Operation Dreamer’.
The woman is alleged to have gained the trust of elderly people in La Union, Murcia, before drugging them and stealing items of value. Some of the victims needed hospital attention.
Police opened an enquiry after a number of senior citizens had been robbed, and all had shown symptoms of having been drugged. This generated considerable alarm in the town.
The woman would reportedly strike up conversations with people between the ages of 70 and 85, before accompanying them home and putting drugs, normally used to treat nervous disorders, in their drinks.
She now awaits sentencing by the court.
