5 Arrested on suspicion of rape at Malaga feria

FIVE youths aged between 17 and 23 have been arrested on suspicion of the rape of a twenty-year-old woman at the Feria de Malaga.

Officers from the Local Police found the woman crying on the ground in Calle Cuevas del Becerro at approximately 8am on Sunday morning behind the attractions of the fairground at the Real del Cortijo de Torres.

The young woman reported that she was assaulted by five young men whilst returning home from working in the fairground. The rape is reported to have been carried out at around 7am. According to her testimony, she was forced behind a fairground attraction by the men and subjected to a brutal sexual assault. It appears that one of the offenders filmed the entire ordeal on a mobile phone.

Police commenced an immediate search of the area where they apprehended two of the suspects, who according to sources close to the investigation admitted to their part in the crime.

Under arrest the two suspects then divulged the identities and whereabouts of the three outstanding assailants. The police found the three waiting for their friends just outside the entrance to the fair. It is reported that they also confessed to having raped the victim.

All five suspects are now confirmed as being apprehended and are currently being held in police custody whilst officers continue with their investigation.

The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment, where she has been attended by a forensic doctor.

The National Police have confirmed an ongoing investigation.
